Connect Claude.ai

Add PMM Sherpa as a custom connector in Claude.ai.

Works on Claude.ai Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. Free plan cannot add custom connectors.

Steps#

  1. Open claude.ai → Settings → Connectors.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click Add custom connector.
  3. Enter:
    • Name: PMM Sherpa
    • URL: https://pmmsherpa.com/api/mcp
  4. Click Add. Claude opens an OAuth window. Sign in with the same Google or email account you use at pmmsherpa.com and approve.
  5. In any chat, click the tools icon and toggle PMM Sherpa on for that conversation. The four tools appear in the tool picker.

The connector exposes the tools. The skill is what makes Claude.ai pick the right tool, in the right voice, automatically.

Without the skill, you have to remember to toggle the connector on and prompt for the right tool every time. With the skill, Sherpa fires on PMM keywords (positioning, messaging, GTM, launch, ICP, persona, battlecard, pricing, narrative, win/loss, analyst), routes to the right tool, and enforces Layer 4 voice across the conversation.

Steps#

  1. Download pmm-sherpa-skill.zip from the public repo.
  2. Claude.ai → Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill.
  3. Upload the zip. Toggle the PMM Sherpa skill ON.

Verify#

Open a new conversation. Send:

Help me sharpen positioning for [your product] against [competitor].

You should see the skill name pmm-sherpa appear at the top of the response, followed by a mcp__pmm-sherpa__ask_sherpa (or draft_artifact) tool call. Response stays in Layer 4 voice: situation-first opener, no "Great question", no em-dashes, ends with one takeaway question.

Auth#

Browser OAuth, fully handled by Claude. Nothing to paste. Tokens refresh automatically.

Troubleshooting#

  • OAuth window blocked: allow pop-ups for pmmsherpa.com and claude.ai, then re-trigger any tool call.
  • Tools missing in chat: each conversation has its own toggle. Open the tools menu inside the chat and switch PMM Sherpa on.
  • 401 / token expired: remove the connector under Settings, then re-add it.
  • Need staging: swap the URL to https://staging.pmmsherpa.com/api/mcp. Staging requires a separate login.
